Academic
In May of 2018 I graduated, Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a bachelors degree in Computer Science. I also completed a minor in Religious Studies. Please refer to the Professional section if you're only interested in classes I took relevant to my career. At the bottom of this page is a complete course history.
I like to get involved in all communities I'm a part of. While attended WVU I was involved with a honors fraternity called Phi Sigma Pi. We did various events to promote scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and participated in community service around campus. I served as both Parliamentarian and the Head of the Technology Committee for two years.
I was also involved in the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. This fraternity is connected to the Boy Scouts of America and focuses on the tenants of leadership, friendship, and service. I served as Scouting and Youth Chair, Secretary, Pledge Educator and Webmaster during my time there.
Notable Assignments
Fake News AI Detection:
I was quoted in an article about a project I participated in for one of my classes. My group used IBM Watson's natural language processing API to create fake news detecting software. Here is a link to the whole article: http://www.statler.wvu.edu/news/2017/03/27/students-experiment-with-artificial-intelligence-to-detect-fake-news
Others who worked on this assignment were: Jesse Somerville, Timothy Reardon, Michael Cantley, Joel Steadman, and Matt Mullin
WVU Transit App (DubVTransit):
As an assignment for my Advanced Software Engineering class I was a part of a group which created an Android app which allows WVU students to find the fastest way around campus. It is currently finished, you can go here to read more about that.
Other who worked on this assignment were: Adley Noore, Cody Huffman, Boris Bagryanski, and Kai Zhu
Phonix Smartglasses (Capstone Project):
The goal of this project was to create a pair of Smartglasses for the Deaf. It was a part of my senior design project (a.k.a. capstone). Afterwards, my friend Jason Schafer and I continued the work co-founding 3WM Software LLC (December 2017) in the process. The business was closed in early 2019 after failing to find seed funding. The website is currently still up at 3WMSoftware.com.
Other who worked on this project were: Jason Schafer, Grant Doohen, Taariq Scott, Nathan Utzman, Jake Jesinowski, Cody Huffman, and Anthony Schafer
